Pottery Fish for the Hatchery

It was a pleasure to work with this group of polite students

Two wonderful teachers
This spring I was asked by Karen to help with a project making pottery fish with a grade 4/5 class.
They would then have a field trip out to the hatchery where their artwork would be displayed in one of the gardens. What a fun project and the students should be very proud of their work. Many thanks to my husband Larry for putting the fish on the metal rods and bringing Karen and I all the rocks and driftwood to create our stream bed. If you are in the area please stop out at the hatchery and check out these children's amazing artwork!!
This is what Karen wrote about the project.

Grade 4 and 5 French Immersion students from Ecole T.M Roberts proudly displayed
their work at the Kootenay Fish Hatchery. The project was funded through an ArtStarts grant, which afforded the students the luxury to work with a local artist, Caroline Kelly. As well, through a special Learning Through the Arts initiative the students planned and created their fish at Parkland Middle School.Classroom teacher, Janet Bishop, was astounded by the quality of the students’projects. She also mentioned her students were excited and honored to share their work with countless other school aged children who regularly tour the fish hatchery.
