New Glaze Firing

This is what came out of the kiln yesterday.Karen and Ev have been busy glazing.

Sushi sets,leaves and platters.Ev has been doing a series of bear platters for Three Bears gift shop.If you are ever in Invermere B.C be sure to stop in and see a thier beautiful store.

I grew up in Saskatchewan, yet when I was young the wind caught hold of me and over time I found myself "moved to live near" each of the three oceans surrounding Canada. Saskatchewan will always be a part of me, because that is where my childhood began. As a child, I played with clay, dug deep from the garden. Now, from time-to-time I use various other mediums, but I always return to playing with clay.I love imaging about the pieces in my mind. Building the pieces seems to be far less challenging for me, than glazing them! Yet, when a piece goes through the creating, building and glazing process and comes out meeting my expectations, then I feel I have won.

Having grown up and worked in the Kootenays all my life, I found myself semi-retired last year and needing something fun and interesting to do. I have always wanted to try pottery, so our good friend Karen took on the challenge to teach my sister and myself. My husband, Richard, was kind enough to give up his workshop to build us a studio and he continually makes improvements for us. We have been having the best time ever since. Caroline and Karen hold down the fort while the Baja frog enjoys the winter in Mexico and Arizona, but she returns to work in the spring. Looking forward to new creations. Have a great day!
