The Studio is humming

The studio has been really busy....back to back glaze firings and  Ev loaded the kiln for a bisque firing today.Lots of birdhouses and feeders,we are getting everything ready for our Mother's day sale on May 12th at Log Cabin Studio. The bowls are from a teacher Don who came out last week to learn about glazing.I think he will be really happy with the results.I love the way the big bowl turned out.
I hope you are having a wonderful sunny spring.

Karen's Pottery Class - Grade 6

Last week I went in to help Karen with this group of grade 6 students do some dip glazing. Karen brought out their pieces on Friday to load into our kiln because the school kiln is a low fire kiln and ours is a high fire kiln. So this is what came out of the kiln today. When I was unloading the kiln and looking at these great pieces these kids had created,I thought how lucky they are to have a great arts program like this and to have dedicated teachers that make it happen.Great job Karen and I really enjoyed coming to the school..maybe I will be invited for the lunch...I can bring my own bowl?

Karen wrote this about her class....

A group of grade 6 students from Gordon Terrace have been working with Ms. Deibert (Karen) at Parkland Middle School. The students have had this special Learning Through the Arts transition project sponsored through the Gordon Terrace Pac.The students made bowls to address concerns about disposable food- ware. Since all of the students and the teacher made a reusable pottery bowl the students will study the adverse effects of disposable paper and plastic ware. The students will finish their study of disposable ware on the environment - by having a chili (or soup) luncheon. The students will report about what would have happened to the environment, if they all used disposable ware for the lunch - rather than their own hand-made bowls.
